Powder-handling seminar for industry professionals slated for Dec. 12

Engineers, technicians, and quality, R&D and maintenance personnel are invited to attend a free professional development seminar from 9:00 a.m.–12:00 noon Wednesday, Dec. 12 in room 135 at BTEC. The presenters—technical leaders in screening/separation, milling, and custom equipment design for material handling technology—will discuss their technologies that can apply to pharmaceutical, biotechnology, food, chemical, and other specialty industries. The seminar, which offers professional development hours, is intended to provide knowledge to improve operations and development processes.

Screening – A Kason representative will discuss the firm’s capabilities and equipment related to manufacturing in pharmaceutical, biotechnology, food, feed, and other industrial applications. Topics include the following:

  • Solids/solids separation (scalping, sifting, classifying, dedusting)
  • Solids/liquids separation (dewatering, clarification, wet classification)
  • Drying, cooling or moisturizing
  • Agglomerating
  • Powder Coating

Milling – A Frewitt representative will discuss capabilities and equipment for various milling and sieving solutions for dry or wet powders.

Custom equipment –A representative of Custom Powder Systems will discuss capabilities for building various material-handling equipment for the food, pharmaceutical, and chemical industries.
