The NIIMBL eXperience

The Golden LEAF Biomanufacturing Training and Education Center (BTEC) at NC State University has been selected as a regional host for the 2024 NIIMBL eXperience Program @ NC State from June 2nd–8th, 2024. The program is designed by National Institute for Innovation in Manufacturing Biopharmaceuticals (NIIMBL) to offer a unique biopharmaceutical manufacturing experience.

About NIIMBL eXperience @ NC State

This program is designed for 1st and 2nd year Black, Latinx, and Indigenous STEM college students who would like to explore academic and career opportunities in the local biopharmaceutical industry.

The week will feature an array of training modules about biomanufacturing processes and equipment and will include visits to local biopharmaceutical manufacturing sites. Additionally, students will have opportunities to enhance their marketability through tailored resume, networking, and professional development activities

This event is completely free for participants! Housing, meals, and transportation are all included. Upon completion of the experience, participants will be given a $1,000 stipend.

Types of Activities

Hands-On Training

In-depth lab exercises focused on growing bacteria in fermenters for recombinant protein expression and the subsequent separation and purification processes common in an industry setting.

Industry Visits

Site visits with biopharmaceutical giants such as Merck, Pfizer, and Fujifilm Diosynth Biotechnologies.

Professional Development

Resume, networking and professional development activities tailored for the biopharmaceutical industry.

Diversity in STEM

Workshops and discussions addressing diversity in the STEM workplace.

Mentorship

Activities with peer mentors and experienced career advisors to provide support and feedback for all participants.

The National Institute for Innovation in Manufacturing Biopharmaceuticals (NIIMBL) is a public-private partnership whose mission is to accelerate biopharmaceutical innovation, support the development of standards that enable more efficient and rapid manufacturing capabilities, and educate and train a world-leading biopharmaceutical manufacturing workforce, fundamentally advancing U.S. competitiveness in this industry.
