Caroline Smith-Moore, Ph.D.
Caroline Smith-Moore, Ph.D. serves as assistant director, Analytical. In this role, she leads a group developing assays, performing testing, and conducting research for BTEC, clients (NC State and industry), and grant-funded projects. She is heavily involved in BTEC’s gene therapy initiatives, specifically the development of assays for characterizing AAV. Additionally, she directs work in cell line development, where she was a senior scientist previously. She provides course instruction for analytical and cell line development in undergraduate, graduate, and professional development courses.
She has extensive experience in biochemical characterization, assay development, and molecular biology. She also has expertise in recombinant expression technology in prokaryotic and eukaryotic systems, as well as cell culture.
Dr. Smith-Moore earned a Bachelor of Science in microbiology, a Professional Science Master’s degree in microbial biotechnology, a Master of Business Administration degree, and a doctorate in functional genomics, all from NC State.
