BTEC seeks AIM-Bio program manager

BTEC is seeking a highly qualified individual to serve as program manager for Accelerated Innovation in Manufacturing Biologics (AIM–Bio), a new five-year international collaboration between NC State University and the Technical University of Denmark (DTU).

AIM-BIO - New $27 million AIM-Bio project to advance biopharmaceutical manufacturing

The program, funded by a $27 million grant from the Novo Nordisk Foundation, will develop new professional development short courses in specific areas of biopharmaceutical manufacturing and carry out different research projects spanning upstream, downstream, automation and modelling of biomanufacturing processes. A great deal of the work at NC State will take place at the Biomanufacturing Training and Education Center (BTEC) and departments in the College of Engineering. Funding will begin on Jan.1, 2020.

The Program Manager will hold a full-time senior staff position at BTEC and report directly to the executive director of BTEC and the Steering Committee for AIM–Bio. This individual will play a key role in managing all areas of the program: development and implementation of short courses, research and development projects, and international exchanges.

Minimum qualifications include a Bachelor of Science degree in engineering, life science or business administration and at least five years of experience in the life sciences industry, to include significant project or program management experience. An advanced degree in engineering or life science (chemical engineering, biochemistry, chemistry, or microbiology) is preferred, as is experience working in biopharmaceutical manufacturing and project management certification (PMP or PgMP).

The program manager will be supported by staff already in place at BTEC and will interact closely with faculty and staff members at both NC State and DTU who are involved in program activities. The position will require travel, approximately twice a year, to Denmark. It is anticipated that successful completion of this program will lead to future funding opportunities from the Novo Nordisk Foundation, industry, and federal and international agencies.
