BTEC and its partners to present at upcoming BPI Conference in Boston

Published Oct. 1, 2015

A project conducted by the BioPhorum Operations Group (BPOG) and BTEC will be featured in a presentation at the upcoming BioProcess International Conference and Exhibition. BPOG is a group comprised of senior leaders of the biopharma industry who come together to share and discuss the emerging trends and challenges facing the industry. The BPI conference, which will be held at the Hynes Convention Center in Boston, Mass., Oct. 26–29, is one of the largest bioprocessing gatherings of the year.

As part of the conference’s Manufacturing Strategy track, Dr. Kavita Ramalingam Iyer will give a presentation entitled “Closed Processing and Sanitizing Temporary Openings” on Thursday, Oct. 29. She will describe the work that BPOG and BTEC have conducted to demonstrate that—with proper design and operation—open connections can be made to a closed system in controlled, non-classified spaces, in a safe and reproducible manner without risk of contamination. Dr. Iyer is a senior specialist in the Global Regulatory Affairs division of Merch Sharp and Dohme Corp.

Another BTEC project will be featured in a poster to be exhibited at the conference. Entitled “Comparison of Concentration Measurement Technologies in Bioprocess Solutions,” the poster presents the results of a study in which Entegris and BTEC compared several existing technologies for solution monitoring. Co-authored by Jennifer Pancorbo, assistant director of Bioprocess Services at BTEC, and Jayanthi Grebin, engineer III, APP at Entegris, Inc., the poster presentation is companion to an article that will appear in the October issue of the BioProcess International magazine. Entegris is a provider of products and materials used in advanced high-technology manufacturing. These products and materials are used to make the building blocks of many complex microelectronics like computers, mobile devices, phones, data storage components, televisions, monitors and automobiles.

BTEC will also exhibit during the convention at booth #830 in the Exposition Hall. Conference attendees can visit Dr. Pancorbo and Mr. John Balchunas, assistant director for BTEC’s Professional Development Programs, to discuss possible collaborations and/or training needs.
