Rick Lawless is a part-time lecturer at BTEC and serves as lead instructor for BEC 475/575, Global Regulatory Affairs for Medical Products. His 38 years experience in the life science field includes over 21 years managing GMP manufacturing units at Eastman Kodak, Johnson & Johnson, and Wyeth; 13 years leading programs and teaching at BTEC; and 4 years in workforce development roles at Novartis Gene Therapies, KBI Biopharma, NC Biotechnology Center, and Abzena. He retired from full-time employment in 2023 and is now self-employed as an independent consultant and educator.

Rick received a B.S. in microbiology and a B.S.E. degree in chemical engineering from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. He also obtained an MBA from State University of New York at Buffalo while working full-time. He earned his Certified Pharmaceutical Industry Professional (CPIP) credentials in 2013.
